Tony GreenAttorney General Hardy Myers today announced that Oregon will receive the tobacco industry's next payment of $24,681,996.31 earlier than required by the Master Settlement Agreement. The payment, originally scheduled for January 2000, will be paid to Oregon on December 31, 1999.
The approximately $24 million will be transferred from escrow tomorrow and deposited in the account at Treasury designated for this purpose. It will then be transferred to the state's General Fund.
