FORMER STATE REP. DAN DOYLE AND HIS WIFE VICTORIA DOYLE PLEADED GUILTY TO CRIMINAL VIOLATIONS OF OREGON'S ELECTION LAWS

September 9, 2005

Attorney General Hardy Myers today announced that former state representative Dan Doyle and his wife and former candidate for Marion County Clerk, Victoria Doyle, are scheduled to appear at an arraignment hearing on Friday, September 9, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in Marion County Circuit Court (court annex building) in Salem. The appearance stems from the Department of Justice's investigation into allegations of criminal violations of Oregon campaign finance laws, which were referred to the Department of Justice by Secretary of State Bill Bradbury in January.

In advance of the arraignment, DOJ officials filed charges against Dan Doyle alleging eleven counts of making a false statement where a statement was required under the election laws, ORS 260.715(1), which is a class C felony. Victoria Doyle has been charged with one count of the same offense, relating to her own campaign for the position of Marion County Clerk.
