Get Legal Help
It is the goal of the Crime Victims’ Services Division to ensure that victims of crime have access to information about their rights and access to services that can help them begin to heal. However, Oregon law prohibits Oregon Department of Justice employees from providing legal advice or counseling for legal matters.
If you are a victim of crime, District Attorneys Offices have trained advocates that can help you navigate the criminal justice system, understand your rights and refer you to resources in your community that can offer support. If you need help, please contact the Victim Assistance Program in the county where your case is being handled.
The resources below are some of the additional legal services that are available to crime victims in Oregon. The Oregon Department of Justice has not screened the providers listed and does not specifically endorse any of them.
-
Oregon Crime Victim Law Center - For questions about victims’ legal rights or to get connected with victim support services
-
Oregon Law Center - For help related to family legal matters and family violence
-
Victim Rights Law Center - For victims of rape and sexual assault seeking civil legal services
-
Immigration Legal Services - For help finding an immigration lawyer
-
National Crime Victims Law Institute - Works to ensure that victims of crime are informed of their rights and can find resources to enforce their rights
OregonLawHelp.org is also a great resource to better understand your rights, and help you locate low-cost legal assistance.
